Did you know that Fairmont Area Kinship is now County Wide? What better way to show this than to have some of our events spread throughout the county! The Sherburn Park was a great place to hold a Kinship event and full of fun for everyone! Thank you Comics for Kids for coming out and stumping the kids with comic book trivia! Thank you Sherburn Assembly of God for the use of your inflatables! Thank you Thrivent Financial for providing funds for this activity through your Thrivent Action Teams! What a great way to start off our summer :D Gotta love water balloon fights!!!

Capture The Flag!.mp4

This February, 71 Kinship mentors and mentees met indoors together for a Mentor Appreciation Night/Indoor Game day! Our original plan had been to go snowmobiling and snowshoeing, but with high temps rapidly melting our snow, a complete change in events became necessary! Thank you to the Blizzard Snowmobile Club for being willing to take our group snowmobiling and to CER for the use of their snowshoes. Hopefully we will find a weekend some year for snowmobiling and snowshoeing! Instead, we were able to have our rescheduled mentor appreciation night at Bethel Evangelical Free Church! Thank you Bethel for letting us use your facilities so last minute.  Our mentors were thanked for all of their years of mentoring their mentees with a meal served by our wonderful board/volunteers, certificates for their years volunteering, and picture frames of their mentees. We had a wide range of mentor and mentee matches to celebrate from our longest match of Jerney and Linda who have been together for almost 9 years to our most recent match of Shelly and Jaxton who were just matched this past month!  Without mentors, we would not be able to have Kinship, and we want to thank each and every one of them for taking time out of their lives to connect with a local youth! After our ceremony things quickly turned into group games! We played Capture the Flag with nerf guns, and mentors and mentees of all ages were able to play with or against each other in what ended up being some pretty epic battles! Several of the youth asked when we would have this activity again! Thank you also to our student volunteer group who helped with set up, registration, taking photos/videos, and coming up with some amazing group activity ideas!  Thank you Kermit for all of your hard work setting up and cleaning up for this event!  Thank you to Thrivent for providing funds for us to be able to put on an amazing event!
